The GROW! Early Career Initiative of GRONEN, supported by NECE – Research Centre for Business Sciences and COST Action CA22124 – ECO4ALL, successfully organized the webinar “From Theory Shopping to Theoretical Rigour: Sustainability Research Essentials.”

The event brought together researchers, Early Career Investigators, PhD candidates, and academics from different countries, providing an inspiring platform for discussing one of the key challenges in sustainability research: developing robust theoretical foundations that enhance the quality, impact, and credibility of scientific work.

The webinar featured two internationally recognised scholars:

  • Prof. Irene Henriques (Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada), who shared valuable insights into the role of theoretical rigour in sustainability and business research.
  • Prof. Jintong Tang (Saint Louis University, USA), who presented practical guidance on developing coherent theoretical frameworks and advancing high-quality academic research.

The session was moderated by Dr. Tarlan Ahmadov, Researcher at NECE – Research Centre for Business Sciences and Young Research Mentor of COST Action CA22124 – ECO4ALL, who facilitated an engaging discussion and encouraged interaction among participants.

The webinar offered practical recommendations on theory development, research design, and academic publishing, while creating opportunities for dialogue between experienced scholars and the next generation of researchers.
